Bead For Life creates sustainable opportunities for women to lift their families out of extreme poverty by connecting people worldwide in a circle of exchange that enriches everyone.
The beaders are primarily impoverished Uganda women who are hardworking, intelligent, and strong in their desire to improve their lives. They make gorgeous handcrafted paper beads from recycled paper and turn them into neclaces, bracelets and earrings. Because the beaders use recycled, colorful paper, the beads help prevent environmental degradation. What was trash becomes beauty, money, food and hope.
TOMS Shoes was founded on a simple premise: With every pair you purchase, TOMS will give a pair of new shoes to a child in need. One for One. Using the purchasing power of individuals to benefit the greater good is what TOMS is all about.
In2006 an American traveler, Blake Mycoskie, befriended children in Argentina and found they had no shoes to protect their feet. Wanting to help, he created TOMS Shoes, a company that would match every pair of shoes purchased with a pair of new shoes given to a child in need. One for One. Blake returned to Argentina with a group of family, friends and staff later that year with 10,000 pairs of shoes made possible by caring TOMS customers.
Walking is often the primary mode of transportation in developing countries. Children can walk for miles to get food, water, shelter and medical help. The leading cause of disease in developing countries is soil-transmitted parasites which penetrate the skin through open sores. Wearing shoes can prevent this and the risk of amputation. Wearing shoes literally enables them to walk distances that aren't possible barefoot. Of the planet's six billion people, four billion live in conditions inconceivable to many. Lets take a step towards a better tomorrow.

Project Joy, the recipient of major support from
the Life is Good Kids Foundation, protects and champions play as the single most important activity in the life of a child. Its mission is to ensure that nothing, including poverty, trauma or any other societal injustice, stands in the way of healthy play for young children. By providing extensive training, resources, and ongoing support to early childhood developers who are working with impoverished preschool children, Project Joy is creating a peaceful army of early childcare teachers who have the skills, insight, and artistry to use play with their children in a way that promotes security, creativity, confidence, compassion, and healing. The National MS Society is a collective of passionate individuals who want to do something about MS now—to move together toward a world free of multiple sclerosis. MS stops people from moving. We exist to make sure it doesn't.
We help each person address the challenges of living with MS through our 50-state network of chapters. The Society helps people affected by MS by funding cutting-edge research, driving change through advocacy, facilitating professional education, and providing programs and services that help people with MS and their families move their lives forward.
We are moving research forward by relentlessly pursuing prevention, treatment and cure. We are moving to reach out and respond to individuals, families and communities living with multiple sclerosis. We are moving politicians and legislation to champion the needs of people with MS through activism, advocacy and influence.
